Day Twenty-Eight: Arlington, VA

Today we went  to Arlington National Cemetery

People do not know how to read signs. Especially the ones that say Respect and Silence.

The changing of the Guard was amazing to see and if anyone has the chance go see it.

It poured down on us off and on today which wasn't all that fun. Seeing the headstones was such a beautiful place. Everything was so uniform and clean.

Here are some pictures from today

Day Twenty-Seven: Arlington, VA / Wasington D.C.

So this was day one on our D.C. adventure.

Went to the American History Museum and the Natural History Museum.
First time on Metro going into the pit
Saw lots of cool exhibits so I shall now proceed to
blowing up pictures

Entrance to the American History Museum 10am

Looking at the Natural History Museum from the doorsteps of
the Smithsonian Institution

Doors of the Smithsonian Institution we went in there
to kill time before everything opened

Tax Collector even back then we hated them

So tomorrow we get up go to breakfast then, Arlington National Cemetery here we come. I am really looking forward to this stop. This isn't for the monument of Robert E. Lee but to see how we honor those that have served our country. This is such a sad place but yet this is a place of remembrance and memories.

Day Twenty-Six: Arlington, VA

We left Williamsburg, VA around 9am and arrived in Arlington, VA at 2:20pm

No it did not take us that long to drive 132miles we stopped at a few places; Wal*Mart and Books-A-Million. We couldn't check into our hotel till 2pm so had to kill time somewhere.

For those of you who know how much I am a book nerd as well as a DnD fan you will smile at the fact I go to geek out with a fellow DM for about an hour discussing different adventures and worlds. It was a fantastic way to start my week in D.C.

Tonight we are going to Georgetown for dinner which is about 5minutes from the hotel- which by the way is so cute and cozy.

For the next week it will be non stop sightseeing. Tomorrow we hit the Mall and some museums, Sunday we go to Arlington Cemetery and monuments, Monday doing a bus tour. After that we will look at other things that catch our attention.
Tomorrow will be the first time I get to ride the metro (kind of nervous).

TTFN,
Ashley

Day Twenty-Five: Williamsburg, VA

Sorry that this didn't post yesterday.

This is the military storage tower. Fun Fact: During the French and Indian War was the only time
there were guards stationed at the doors of the storage tower. All the weapons and gun
power is in there.
Got up at 8am grabbed some light breakfast than walked the mile to Colonial Williamsburg. Spent all day going to all the historical sites, museums, gardens. This place was lovely and even if some people weren`t as friendly we flashed them a smile and moved on. It got hotter in afternoon so we went back to the hotel about 4:30pm. It was a long day and we were worn-out.

We walked a mile but still arrived 20min before the ticket booth opened so we just sat around waiting admiring the surrounding area.

After getting tickets about midday we had "Dinner" the main course of the day because 'Supper" (modern day dinner) was just to eat the leftovers from the day.

This place was delicious. Walt had some beef and I had crab cakes and this sorbet drink

The shoemaker was full of information and he was willing to talk boots with me which was really fun.

Day Twenty-Four: Williamsburg, VA

Departed from Smithfield, NC at 10:40am and arrived in Williamsburg, VA at 2:40pm

Just a driving day but crossed into another state

Went to a super cool BBQ place for dinner after I had a phone meltdown. It complexly overheated and wouldnt send messages or get on internet. I swear technology hates me this past week. It is working okay right now so I am panic free at the moment. Back to dinner though, it was totally delicious.

Tomorrow is a full day in Colonial Williamsburg, VA I am extremely excited.

Day Twenty-Three: Smithfield, NC

We depart from Walterboro, SC at 10am and Arrived in Smithfield, NC at 2:10pm. It was a fairly easy ride today.

This was just a stop because tomorrow we will be heading to Williamsburg, VA for two days. Getting closer and closer to the D.C. portion of the trip.

So while driving to our destination and using the GPS I saw that there is a town (fairly populated) with my name. YAY

I did get to take a picture of the Georgia and South Carolina sign as I drove through.

Day Twenty: The Florida Keys

Key Largo down to Key West baby and what fun we had.

This man right here my Great Grandfather celebrated a wonderful birthday in style.

We left Florida City at 8am passed through Key Largo and stopped in at Islamorada and visited the Theater at Sea. There we saw dolphins, sharks, parrots, sea lions and really annoying birds.

After Leaving Theater at Sea we went to the Dolphin Research Center. Both Walter and I got to mark petting/hugging a dolphin off our bucket lists. We got to go down and meet Aleta and get our pictures taken. These were professionally taken photos so I will scan them in when I get home.

After our Dolphin adventures we drove to Key West to go to the Southernmost Point of the US. This was so fun and dinner was delicious. Talked to another stranger and he took our picture. The first photo is straight off the dock 90 miles away is Cuba. No you cannot see it but the view was amazing.
This is the pole we went to the actual Buoy was around in a cove and is actual SE not directly S (Factoid).

Day Fifteen: Nashville, TN

Update: While at the Ryman I stumbled upon this lovely picture
For those of you that don't know this is who my horse is named after" Whiskey Mae West"

Can you guys tell I do not want to leave this place.

Sadly we leave at 7am for Perry Georgia

Got to go to the Ryman Auditorium and walk around after making a one song CD. After making my own CD we went to the movies to see After Earth.

Since last night we didn't get into the Bluebird Café we showed up almost 3 hours early to make it in. Talked with some lovely people while waiting in line. I became the number one fan of hopefully going to be famous Evan Thompson. He writes songs and sings. The people that preformed were so talented. I wish when mom paid for my guitar lessons that I actually practiced then maybe I could have been the one people wanted to know my name.

Special Video of Evan Thompson singing 'My First Song" written by him.

That's it for today folks. Leaving my dream state tomorrow and moving on down the line.

Ashley
